Castle Royle lead the European Men's Club Trophy after Day 1 at Golf du Médoc Resort, France.
David Langley was the top performer of the day. The Englishman fired a bogey-free 65 (-6), despite play being suspended due to fog just 35 minutes into his round, to propel the English club into an early lead.
Timothy Shan returned a one-under-par round of 70 to leave Castle Royle on seven-under-par and with a one-stroke advantage.
Frederic Lacroix, who won the St Andrews Trophy with the Continent of Europe in July, carded a three-under-par round of 68 for the defending champions, Racing Club de France.
It looked like the French club were going to set the pace once again following their victory on the same course in 2017; Raphael Le Bot was five-under-par on the 18th tee, although an unfortunate double-bogey meant the team would have to settle for second position on six-under-par.
Club de Golf de Miramar of Portugal sit in third. Pedro Cruz Silva carded a three-under-par 68 to add to José Maria Barbosa Cunha's round of 70 (-1) putting the team on four-under-par.
GC Mannheim-VIernheim of Germany, a team which features St Andrews Trophy and Bonallack Trophy player, Marc Hammer, are just four shots back on three-under-par, tied for fourth place with Danish club, Gyttegaard, which features World Amateur Team Champions, Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard.
Two more days of stroke play will decide this year's European Men's Club Champions.
