EUROPEAN AMATEUR & BOYS’ TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS, DIVISION 2
Borsa Golf Club, Slovakia.
The stroke play qualifying rounds have been completed in the Men’s and Boy’s Division 2 team championships. Despite a few drops of rain during the day, the scores were low again, and the battle for the top four spots has been intense.
In the Men’s event, Connor Graham (SCO) earned the low individual honours with first day leader Fabian Lang (AUT). Both players shot rounds of 66 (-6) on Thursday and have brought the best combined scores for their respective teams, both at -13.
A special mention to Alejandro Pedryc (POL), who after a front nine 38 (+2), managed to play the back nine in just 27 shots (-9), thanks to seven birdies and one eagle.
Overall scores for the Men’s division have been low, and the top 4 spots have been taken by Scotland (-40), Portugal (-25) Czech Republic (-22) and Austria (-21).
Hungary (-19) and Poland (-17) were also close to grabbing the fourth spot, but narrowly missed out on the chance to compete for medals on Friday and Saturday.
On the Boys' side, good scores were also common throughout the day, but no one was able to catch up with first day leader Mathias Weiss (AUT) who shot a round of 71 (-1) to sit at the top of the leaderboard on -8. Second place goes to Stefan Rojas (LUX), at -7 total.
Overall scores for the Boys’ division have been spread out, with Austria claiming the first place (-16) followed by Scotland (-6), Iceland (+7) and Wales (+10). These four teams will compete for medals, and promotion places to next year's division 1 events in the match play rounds.
