Germany have won both the European Senior Men's and Ladies' Team Championships in Austria and Belgium respectively.
In the Men's championship, held at Diamond CC, the German team reached the final by defeating France in the quarter-finals and England in the semi-finals after finishing fifth in the stroke play qualifying.
In the final, the German team put the first point on the board when Thomas Krieger defeated Ignacio Gonzalez on the 14th green. Stefan Sachs & Ekkehart Schieffer then triumphed by one hole in a tight foursomes match over Alvaro Llanza & Manuel Carvallal to make it 2-0 to Germany.
The Spanish team, playing in their first ever final in the event, reponded with a victory of their own when Angel Sartorius edged out Andreas Braatz on the 18th hole.
The German side, who lost to Scotland in the final in 2016, needed just one more point to secure their first ever title in the event.
It was 2018 European Senior Men's Champion, Martin Birkholz, that clinched the decisive point for Germany, holing a three-foot par putt on the last to defeat Alejandro Lafarga by one hole.
In the match for third place, defending champions, Ireland, defeated number-one stroke play qualifiers, England, to claim the bronze medals.
The German ladies' team, competing at Mont Garni Golf, upset five-time champions, France in the quarter-finals. They then comfortably defeated the hosts, Belgium, in the semi-finals to setup a gold-medal match with Sweden.
The Germans wasted no time in putting points on the board after Britta Schneider and Stephanie Kiefer both won their matches on the 15th hole.
Sweden responded with a 4&3 win from Louise Idestal, but that was shortly followed by a dominant 6&4 victory from Sibylle Gabler, which was enough to secure the German's first title in the event since 2010.
It is only the second time a nation has simultaneously won both the Men's and Ladies' Championships in the same year after Ireland achieved the feat in 2013.
