Germany has won the European Senior Ladies' Team Championship in Slovenia.
19 teams of 6 players competed for the 2022 title at Golf Arboretum near Ljulbjana.
The German team earned the number-two seed in the stroke play qualifying. Led by Sibylle Gabler (+11), the German team posted a total of +74 around the tricky layout. A score which was only bettered by defending champions, Spain (+64).
Spain's Macarena Campomanes, a three-time European Senior Ladies' Individual Champion, posted the lowest two-round total in the stroke play qualifing rounds with a 76 (+5) and 74 (+3).
The German team swept aside France in the quarter-finals. Susanne Lichtenberg and Alexandra Kolker won the foursomes match 4&3, while Silvia Wilms (5&4) and Stephanie Kiefer (1 up) brought Germany to the decisive three points.
In the final four, Germany faced Ireland. Another victory in the foursomes match allowed Sibylle Gabler and Stephanie Kiefer to secure a second appearance in the final in as many years for team Germany with wins in the singles matches.
Germany's opponent in the final was Sweden, who had upset number-one seeds and defending champions, Spain in the quarter-finals.
Susanne Lichtenberg and Alexandra Kolker made it three from three in the foursomes matches to put the first point on the board for Germany. Britta Schneider added a second point with a 3&1 win before Baulee Maliwan clinched a point back for Sweden in the third match 4&2.
Sibylle Gabler secured the decisive point with a 5&3 victory, securing Germany's first European Senior Ladies' title since 2018.
The victory marks Germany's second European team title of the year, having won the European Boys' Team Championship in July.
Sweden claimed the silver medals as runners-up, while Ireland defeated Switzerland in the match for third place to claim bronze.
