Ireland lead the European Team Championship for Golfers with Disability after the second of three rounds of competition.
The Irish team, who lead after Round 1, dominated play on Friday at Koksijde Golf ter Hille in Belgium. The two pairs signed for rounds of 64 (-8) and a 68 (-4) in the Round 2 greensomes to open up a 16-shot lead over defending champions, Sweden.
12-under-par for the day, the Irish team moved from +8 to -4, while Sweden dropped three shots to move to +12. England are in third place on +17, while France (+22) and Spain (+23) will be eyeing spots on the podium come Saturday evening.
The battle for the medals could go down to the wire with just 18 holes of singles stroke play left.
A total of 84 players, representing 15 different countries, are competing in two sperate competitions this week in Belgium.
13 teams are competing for the European Team Championship, which is a gross strokeplay competition, while eight teams are competing in the European Nations' Cup, the format of which is net stableford.
