Ingrid Lindblad has won the 2021 European Ladies' Amateur Championship over a strong field which featured 25 of the world's top-100 amateur players.
The 21-year-old started the day one shot behind her Swedish teammate, Sara Kjellker.
She didn't take long to draw level however, with birdies at the first two holes wiping out Kjellker's advantage.
Four more birdies in the next eight holes put Lindblad on -13. Kjellker and Wallin, Lindblad's playing partners in the final group, struggled to keep the pressure on after making a number of bogeys, allowing Lindblad to open up a five-stroke lead through 13 holes.
Despite a bogey on the 14th, Lindblad comforatbly parred her way in to post a -12 total and claim the European title by three strokes. She becomes the first Swedish player to win the event since 2009.
"It's been a great day, I played great today." Explained Lindblad after her round. "I think I missed my first green on hole 12, so I hit a lot of greens at the beginning and had a lot of good chances for birdies."
"It's very cool having my name on the trophy, I think the last Swede who won it was Caroline Hedwall, so it's been a while (for Sweden)."
"It was very cool having three Swedes in the last group, just walking around speaking Swedish was very unusual for an international tournament."
The victory earns the Swedish player her second appearance in the AIG Women's Open at Carnoustie in August, having successfully come through Monday qualifying in 2019.
Starting the final round in 4th position, Germany's Alexandra Försterling carded a steady round of 69 (-3) on day three to climb two spots on the leaderboard and claim the silver medal with a total of -9.
Leader after Rounds 2 & 3, Sara Kjellker, was able to claim bronze medal with a total of -7 despite a one-over-par 73 to finish.
Six Swedish players, of which four are currently ranked inside the European Women's Amateur Golf Ranking top-five, finished in the top-10 of the event, affirming Sweden's strength on the European stage.
At the closing ceremony, EGA President Elect, Jan Hubrecht, paid special thanks to the Italian Golf Federation and Royal Park Golf & Country Club I roveri for their outstanding organisation, and for accepting to host the championship at such short notice.
