Postigo, Van Houten and Kluwen Retain Disability Titles

The European Championship for Golfers with Disability has been completed at Amendoeira Golf Resort in Portugal.

61 players competing for three different titles teed it up on the O'Connor Course in the event, which was cancelled due to Covid-19 last year.

The hot playing conditions didn't bother Spain's Juan Postigo, who was able to card three consecutive under-par rounds and successfully defend the men's title. Scores of 69 (-3), 71 (-1), and 69 (-3) gave Postigo a comfortable six-shot victory with a total of -7.

France's Charles-Henri Quélin claimed silver with a total of -1, while Johan Kammerstad of Sweden was awarded the bronze on +1.

In the ladies' event, Daphne Van Houten (NED) put in a dominant performance to win by 15 strokes. Carding rounds of 74, 76 and 71 for a total of +5. Mette Wegge Lyngaard (DNK) finished second with +20, while Germany's Jennifer Sräga claimed bronze on +44.

In the seated catgeory, Richard Kluwen (NED) also successfully defended his title. The Dutch player returned scores of 87, 82, and 83 for a total of +36 and a 20-stroke victory. Mariano Tubio of Argentina was awarded silver, and Graham Freeman (BEL) bronze.
