The European Young Masters travels to Norway this week. After the original venue, Oslo GC, was forced to withdraw from hosting the championship due to severe precipitation over the winter, it will be Hauger Golf Club that presents the challenge to Europe's best under-16 golfers.
A mix of boys and girls make up the 105-player field that will compete for medals in individual (girls and boys) and team rankings. In the Nations Cup, the team classification, the three lowest of the 24 eligible team's four scores each day will count for the countries' total scores.
At Oslo GC last year, England triumphed in the team event. They were largely helped by Lily-May Humphrey's victory in the individual girls' ranking . The English player finished on a total of two-under-par after 54 holes to win by a single stroke. In the boys event, home player, Bard Bjornevik Skogen, shot three consecutive rounds under par to post a total of 10-under-par and claim the boys' title.
The girls will be looking to add their names to a list of winners that includes Carlotta Ciganda and Suzann Pettersen, while Sergio Garcia, Rafael Cabrera-Bello, and Matteo Manassero have previously triumphed in the boys' event.
Hauger Golf Club will provide a tough test this week. After several weeks with minimal rainfall, players will have to contend with hard and fast fairways, as well as with the forecast heat and high winds.
