Spain have won the 2021 European Senior Ladies' Team Championship at BlackSeaRama Golf Resort & Villas.
The Spanish team topped the stroke play qualifying with a total of +48 in Bulgaria to earn the number-one seed heading into the match play rounds.
They faced Sweden in the quarter-finals. Winning the foursomes match proved decisive for the Spanish side, as the four singles matches were split two each.
The victory against Sweden earned Spain a semi-final match up with Switzerland, which the eventual champions dominated 4.5 - 0.5.
In Saturday's championship match, Spain faced 2018 champions Germany. Maria De Orueta and Maria Castillo won their third straight foursomes match of the week to put the first point on the board for the Spanish side.
Germany responded with a point of their own when Silvia Wilms won her match on the 18th hole.
Soledad Fernandez De Araoz secure the biggest win of the gold medal match, 6&4, to bring Spain within just one point of the title.
Xonia Wunsch won her match on the 16th hole 4&2 to secure Spain its first ever European Senior Ladies' Team Championship title.
Switzerland recovered from their heavy defeat to the eventual champions in the semi-finals with a 3.5 - 1.5 victory over Belgium in match for third place to take home the bronze medals.
