The Spanish Interntional Amateur Championships, also known as the Copa S.M. El Rey (men) and Copa S.M. La Reina (ladies) have reached the match play stages.
Despite some participants being unable to travel due to restrictions in their countries, the prestigious championships are going ahead with strict COVID measures in place.

Following two rounds of stroke play qualifying, 32 men at Real Club de Golf El Prat and 32 ladies at Real Club Sevilla Golf have made the cut for the knockout match play brackets.
At the men's event, Luis Masaveu Roncal has earned the number-one seed ahead of the match play stages. The Spanish player posted a two-under-par total, the lowest total of the field, with rounds of 70 (-2) and 72 (par). France's Paul Margolis and Austria's Niklas Regner were just one stroke behind on a total of one-under-par.
At the ladies' event, former junior Vagliano Trophy player, Lucie Malchirand lead the French contingent, and the field, posting rounds of 72 (par) and 67 (-5) for a total of five-under-par.

Spain's Julia Lopez Ramirez finished one stroke behind Malchirand, after recovering from a first round 75 (+3) to shoot a second round 65 (-7) and post a total of four-under-par.
