Olivia Mehaffey of Ireland, 2015 British Ladies’ Open Amateur Championship semifinalist and winner of the 2015 Welsh Ladies’ and Helen Holm Scottish Open Stroke Play Championship, had to regrettably withdraw due to illness from the European team set to face Team Asia-Pacific in the first edition of the Patsy Hankins Trophy in Portugal next week.
Taking Mehaffey’s place in the biennial match will be Chloe Williams of Wales.
In 2015, Williams was Welsh Close Championship finalist, placed third in the European Nations Cup Individual and played the Home Internationals. Williams gained international match experience at the 2015 Vagliano Trophy and will now join several of her former Great Britain and Ireland teammates and Continent of Europe opponents to represent Europe against Asia-Pacific at Vidago Palace Golf Course in Portugal from 16-18 March.
The EGA would like to welcome Williams to the team and wish Mehaffey a rapid recovery.
