The European Ladies' Amateur Championship, now in its 31st edition, travels to Slovakia for the first time to be played at Penati Golf Resort.
The Italians will be hoping for more success on the Heritage course, after compatriot, Stefano Mazzoli triumphed in the European Amateur Championship on the same course in 2015.
The event, which has been ranked in the global top-5 for field strength (WAGR) for the last 10 years, has featured some big names in the world of golf. Three major champions have claimed bronze medals in the European Ladies' Amateur Championship; Anna Nordqvist, in 2005, four years before winning the Women's PGA Championship, Suzann Pettersen finished third in 2000, seven years before her first major championship victory, and Helen Alfredsson, winner of the 1993 ANA Inspiration, in 1988.
Eight further medallists have represented Europe in the Solheim Cup, while a total of 19 medallists have gone on ton win Ladies' European Tour or LPGA tournaments.
Five-time European tour winner, and three-time Solheim Cup player, Caroline Hedwall is included in those lists. The Swedish player won the European Ladies' Amateur Championship in 2007 and 2009.
In 2017, Agathe Laisne triumphed in dramatic fashion at Lausanne Golf Club. The French player holed a three-metre birdie putt on the 18th hole to secure a one-shot victory over Albane Valanzuela, who held a seven-shot lead heading into the final round.
