Continent of Europe Win Day 2 Foursomes Session to Level St Andrews Trophy

The Continent of Europe won the day two morning foursomes session 3-1 in the St Andrews Trophy to level the match at 8-8 with just nine singles matches left to play.

Finnish duo, Sami Valimaki and Matias Honkala, who are playing on home soil at Linna Golf, secured their second straight foursomes win of the week in match one over Matthew Jordan and Gian-Marco Petrozzi.

Frederic Lacroix and Angel Hidalgo Portillo won 3&2 against Mitch Waite and Nick Poppleton while Italian pair, Lorenzo Scalise and Stefano Mazzoli defeated Conor Purcell and David Hague 4&3.

The last match still out on the course between Fredrik Nilehn and Marc Hammer, and Robin Dawson and John Murphy went down the 18th, with the Contiennt of Europe pair one-down. The Irish duo would win the 18th to gain the only point for the Great Britain & Ireland side in the morning session and leave the score tied at 8-8.

All nine players from both sides will play in singles matches this afternoon to decide who lifts the trophy. If the match finishes in a tie for the second consecutive time, Great Britain & Ireland would retain the trophy.
