Day 1 - European Senior Ladies' Team Championship

The 2018 European Senior Ladies' Team Championship at Mont Garni Golf Club, Belgium, started with a two-hour delay due to a flooded golf course. This caused the final groups of the day to finish their rounds in near-darkness, but all players were able to complete their rounds.

The Spanish team took the lead after the first of two qualifying stroke play rounds. Their five best scores from round one, all in the 70s, totalled to 14-over-par.

The hosts find themselves in second-place just three shots behind, while defending champions, France, are seven back on 21-over-par in third.

England, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, and the Netherlands are the five remaining teams sitting inside the all-important top eight and would qualify for the medal-contention match play Flight A should they keep their positions following the second round.

Italy and Switzerland lie within eight shots of eighth-placed Netherlands and will be hoping for lower scores in round two to make it into Flight A.

Laura Webb of Ireland and Sylvie Van Molle of Belgium, who made an eagle and two birdies on her back-nine, tied for lowest score of the day. They both fired three-under-par rounds of 70 to tie at the top of the individual scoreboard.
