Team USA have defeated Europe in the Junior Ryder Cup.
The American team took a three-point advantage on the first of two days of match play at Golf Disneyland, Paris. In the Monday morning foursomes, Emma Spitz & Ingrid Lindblad won 4&3, Europe's only victory of the session. Emilie Alba-Paltrinieri & Alessia Nobilio, and twins, Nicolai & Rasmus Hojgaard, both claimed halves, while Team USA won the three other matches to put the score at 4-2.
The gap widdened on Monday afternoon in the mixed fourballs. Rasmus Hojgaard and Emilie Alba-Paltrinieri combined well to win 5&4, while Robin Williams and Annabell Fuller clinched a one-up win in the last match out on the course.
Eduard Rousaud and Ingrid Lindblad won four of the last six holes to claim a half, but Team USA once again won three of the session's matches to take a 7.5-4.5 lead into the day two singles.
Tuesday's first point went to the USA, when Lucy Li defeated Amanda Linner 4&3, although Europe fought back with wins from both of the Hojgaard twins, and a half-point from Ingrid Lindblad. The American team then responded with two successive wins of their own, climbing to 11 points, and within one of retaining the trophy.
Emilie Alba-Paltrinieri won two-up to take the score to 11-8, but a two-up win by Michael Thorbjornsen over David Puig meant the USA would lift the trophy for a sixth succesive time.
European wins in the final matches by Alessia Nobilio, Robin Williams, and Conor Gough, in addition to a well-recovered half-point from three-down by Annabell Fuller, meant the final score was 12.5-11.5 in favour of the American team.
The 2020 edition of the event will be held at Blue Mound Golf and Country Club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
