Harry Hall Leads European Amateur Championship at Halfway Stage

Harry Hall has carded a second successive 68 to lead the European Amateur Championship at Diamond Country Club in Austria.

The Englishman's second round of four-under-par was completed in tougher scoring conditions than day one, with higher winds.

"It feels good! You know I'm experienced now and it's right where I want to be after a lot of amateur golf" Said Hall, following his round. "I started off very solid today, made two bogeys, six birdies, and had a good back-nine. Not as good as yesterday's back-nine, but finished with another 68."

Jerry Ji, last year's bronze medallist, is in the mix once again. The Dutch player returned a three-under-par 69 to reach seven-under-par and sit in a group of three players just one shot behind.

Leader at the halfway stage in the 2018 edition, Blake Windred, kept himself in contention after one-under-par round of 71. The Australian player has made just one bogey through 36 holes.

Joseph Long is the last player in the group on seven-under-par. The Englishman added a round of 70 in the morning on Day two to his first round score of 67.

However it was Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen who made the shot of the day. After making birdie on the par-five first, his 10th hole of the day, the Danish player holed his tee shot on the par-three second. "I actually told it to go a bit, then we just heard this big noise and didn't see the ball go anywhere". Said Neergaard-Petersen. "It was a surreal feeling".
