Mjaaseth and Schulz-Hanssen lead heading into final round in the Czech Republic

Low scoring continued into the second day, with the overnight Boys’ co-leader, Michael Alexander Mjaaseth (NOR), adding to his first-round 64 with a 66 to lead by two on -14. Moving into second place is Jose Luis Ballester (ESP), who equalled the best round of the day – 67 – to add to his previous day’s 65. Overnight co-leader, Yannick Malik, dropped to 4th position following a 71, while Thailand’s Pongsapak Laopakdee remained in third by one shot, only four off the lead.

In the Girls’ competition, one co-leader, Francesca Fiorellini (ITA), dropped down the leaderboard with a 74, while the other, Malaysia’s Mirabel Ting, held-on to third with a 71 to move to -6. Making their move with consistent sub-70 rounds were Paula Schulz-Hanssen (GER), who followed her first round 69 with a 67 to take a one-stroke lead from Lila's Pinthier (FRA) on -7. The best round of the day belonged to Anne Sterre Den Dunnen (NED), who fired a 65 (-7) on Friday to move into a tie for third with Ting.

While three or four of the boys seem to have broken away from the field, the girls’ event seems more open with 12 players within five strokes of the lead.

The Nations’ Cup competition has tightened with overnight leaders, Germany, now only one stroke ahead of France, and two ahead of the Netherlands. Italy and Spain are four further back on -15 and tied for fourth, Norway remains in touch on -14, and the home team, the Czech Republic, sits in seventh position with the best of the Great Britain and Ireland teams, England.

An exciting final day of play awaits at the Kunětická Hora Golf Club tomorrow.

The full leaderboard and the round two tee times can be found on the championship webpage.
