The semi-finals of the European Team Shield Championships took place on Friday at the V Club in Lithuania.
In the ladies' event, Poland defeated Liechtensten 2-1 to progress to the final, while Bulgaria came out on top against Latvia in the closest match of the day.
After the foursomes match was won 3&1 by Latvia, both of the singles matches went down the last hole. The first, between Sofia Seldemirova of Bulgaria and Anna Dianna Svanka of Latvia, needed a 19th hole to decide a winner. The first extra hole went in favour of Bulgaria, making the score 1-1.
In the match just behind them, Ivana Simeonova secured a second point for Bulgaria on the 18th green with a score of 1up to book her team a matchup with Poland in the final.
The Polish team reached the final in 2017, but lost against eventual winners, Turkey, to finish second. Bulgaria will make their first appearance in the final in the ladies' tournament, while both teams will have the chance to win their first EGA team championship title on Saturday.
In the men's competitio,n Greece faced Malta in the semi-finals. The Maltese got off to a good start, clinching the first point of the day with a 4&2 win in the foursomes. However, Greece recovered with victories in both of the singles matches to prevail 2-1 and progress to the final.
In the other semi-final, Cyprus won all three matches against Liechtenstein to secure an encounter with the 2015 champions, Greece. It will be Cyprus' first appearance in the final of an EGA team championship.
