Frank Kennedy broke records on his way to victory at the 92nd Portuguese International Amateur Championship.
The 16-year-old led the tournament from wire-to-wire, opening with a 7-under-par 65 to top the leaderboard at Montado on the opening day.
Subsequent rounds of 69 (-3), 64 (-8) and 71 (-1) led to a total of -19 and a four-stroke victory.
The English junior’s 72-hole score sets a new official record for the championship.
Kennedy’s low scoring also matched another record. A 64 (-8) on day 2 equals the course record at Montado.
“I’m very proud of my victory and I hope to return next year to defend the title” said Kennedy after lifting the trophy. “It’s my first senior title, it’s the most important I’ve ever won.”
Germany’s Finn Koelle finished runner-up on -15, while Arron Edwards-Hill (ENG) finished third on -13.
