France won the most EGA Championships of any country during the 2022 season. With a total of four golds, France finished the year at the top of the EGA medal table.
Joe Armstrong secured France's first medal of the year at the European Mid-Amateur Men's Championship. The event, played at Golf du Médoc Resort, was the first EGA championship of the season.
The French girls team added a second gold medal to their country's count at the European Girls' Team Championship in Iceland. The team braved cold and wintery conditions in mid-July at Oddur Golf Club to claim the title.
By the end of September and with just two EGA events to play, England were top of the European Medal Table. Having won two gold medals of their own - at the European Ladies' Team Championship and European Senior Men's Championship - England were ahead of France with more silver medals won.
The European Men's and Ladies' Club Trophies were both won by French teams in October. Racing Club de France La Boulie claimed the European Ladies' Club Trophy in Slovenia, while Cannes Mougins won the European Men's Club Trophy in Portugal, taking France to a total of four gold medals.
England claimed second place on the table, while Germany edged out Spain for the final spot on the podium.

Sweden won the most total medals with eight, which included a victory at the European Senior Men's Team Championship and five silver medals.
A special mention to Slovenia and Belgium for winning the European Amateur and Boys' Division 2 Team Championships, earning spots in the Division 1 events for 2023.
In the European Team Shield Championships, for nations not competing in the European Division 1 or 2 Team Championships, Greece's gold medal marked a record third victory. They defeated Malta, who have finished on the podium every year except one since the inception of the tournament, in a tight final match in Hungary.
In the European Ladies' Team Shield Championship, Turkey also extended their advantage at the top of the medal table, having now won the event three times since the event was introduced in 2016.
