Smørum Golf Club has won the 2023 European Men's Club Trophy.
The Danish club earned a narrow one-stroke victory at Troia Golf, Portugal to claim their maiden European men's title.
The winners went one better than last year, when they finished runners-up behind French club, Cannes Mougins.
The Danish trio were within one shot off the lead after Round 1, although a stunning 66 (-6) from Mads Heller around the tight Troia layout on Friday gave the team a six stroke advantage heading into Saturday's final round.
They would need all six shots to claim the title after a late charge from Royal Park I Roveri. Luca Memeo (ITA) made four birdies and an eagle in his closing six holes to get the Italian team within just one stroke of the leaders. A one-over par total for Smørum was enough for the gold medals, leaving Royal Park in second place on +2.
Austrian team, Murhof, claimed the bronze medals for a second straight year on +7.
Pablo Alperi Lopez (ESP) was the leading individual for the week. Representing Real Club de Golf de Castiello, Alperi Lopez finished with a total of -6.
